Have you ever seen an interview with a celebrity and thought, “If I knew this person in real life we would totally be friends!” Yep. Me too.
Have you ever read one of those magazine interviews and sat there saying, “My favorite movie of all time is A Walk In The Clouds too!”
No? No one else? By the way, A Walk In The Clouds is my favorite movie.
Okay, so you will totally get me when I tell you my *friend* (because we’ve never really met in real-life) Karianne from Thistlewood Farms writes and decorates her home in a way that makes me sit at my computer nodding my head in agreement while sipping my coffee and saying, “We would take shopping at Hobby Lobby together to an unparalleled Olympic sport level where we would walk out with gold medals, bags hanging off each arm, and lovely cashiers clapping as we chasse out the door !”
Weird? Okay, before I digress into blog stalker obsession and tell you to read this, this and this on her blog Thistlewood Farm, let me show you her fabric line that made me break out in song.
Isn’t it incredible? You can see the whole line in all the different colorways over at The Cotton Club.
A love affair with neutrals. But not in the boring ‘this is neutrals’ kind of way, more like a love affair with neutrals in a Clark Kent kind of way…you know Superman. He looks all geeky and boring on the outside until his true self is revealed. Whoa…did I just compare fabric to Superman? I’m soooo the mom of boys. You could just run with it and do a whole room in neutrals.
But let’s say you live for more color…I wanted to take Kairanne’s lovely fabrics and add a layer of color to them just in case Superman makes your heart race more than Clark Kent. My goal was to take Karianne’s fabrics that work so lovely together and follow all the steps, and add a pretty blush color to the mix without taking it nursery. Check it out.
So how would I use all this beauty in a room? Karianne has a decidedly farmhouse flair to her look so I thought I would take it in another direction…Hollywood Regency. I love the mini chevron pattern in the blush color. I think it would look amazing upholstered on two wing back chairs with some of Karianne’s grey triangle fabric pillows plumped on them with knife edge pleat trim in the blush cheetah print.
Pair them with a grey sofa with the blush trellis pattern fabric in pillows paired with Karianne’s grey stripe fabric piped in blush chevron and it would be perfection. Hello glam squad…nice to meet you. 🙂
Make some gorgeous curtains out of Karianne’s floral print fabric and pipe the curtains, yes pipe them, in the chevron. It would be an amazing, feminine room based in neutrals with a slight pop of glamour. A room perfect for sipping a pink cosmo in. Need more visualization? I created that for you too!
Your welcome.
Do you like this week’s mix? I would love to put together a mix for you!
If you have a piece of furniture, rug, paint color, or anything else you are trying to figure out textiles for, send me a picture and I might pick your space to be part of a future Tuesday’s Textile Mix. You can e-mail me at slightlycoastal at gmail dot com. I can’t wait to hear from you!
