Hello All!
Last week was a whirl wind but such a great week. I played the Fairy Godmother at a Mother/Daughter Tea, which was so much fun. My littlest one turned three and I can hardly believe how fast he is growing up. I scored some amazing deals this week that sort of fell right into my lap (I love when that happens). I also received a package in the mail that has me so excited! So here we go…on to the thrift store treasures.
It all started on the way home from the Mother/Daughter tea when I spotted this headboard on my way down to Cottle and Gunn (my favorite supplier of Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint and Annie Sloan Chalk Paint). As I was driving past this community yard sale I turned my head and mentally made a note to stop on my way back. When I drove back by, the headboard was in the back of someones truck along with a lot of other stuff. I stopped anyway and asked if they had just bought it. He said they were packing it all up and I could have it for a real bargain. I’m known for not carrying a lot of cash on me so I told him I would have to probably run to the ATM and he said, “Do you think you have $2 change in your car?” Woo Hoo! I paid the man $2 in quarters and drove away with a new headboard. It will be receiving a coat of red paint and a little “fixer” to cover the flower and end up in my son’s room.
I walked into the local thrift store and found some real treasures. I found this great platter that says Compliments of Maxwell and Sons Furniture, Savannah, GA for $1.99. What a great find! It came right home with me and has already ended up on my new side table.
I spotted a really great looking basket. My local thrift store always has a ton of baskets, but this one I thought was especially nice and priced at $3, how could I go wrong? I think I may use it to hold extra rolls of toilet paper in the bathroom. I have baskets everywhere in my house and they all have a job to do.
Sorry the pictures aren’t the best. I have been having trouble with my camera and may actually have to consult my manual to figure it out. I also ran across this sort of sad looking tree. It is on a heavy wooden block and was wrapped with burlap. I have big plans for this tree. It just needs a little love to reach it’s full potential. It will become this year’s Jesse tree (more about that next week).
I hope you are having a great weekend!
