I always had an affinity for buffalo check, but it was solidified when I saw this guest bedroom back in 2007 in the HGTV Dream Home. I had used buffalo check in tan and cream in our first ever master bedroom and I always thought the buffalo check chairs in Talbot’s (so iconic) were chic with the black, white, and red door combination. But this bedroom really brought it home for me.
I love how simple it is to use two throws to throw at the end of the bed and to make pillows from. I adore the fringe on the pillows. It’s fun but not fussy.

Another example of pillows and throws that make this work. The Southern Living house also has a somewhat coastal feel.
What great chairs! Lining up the check is essential when upholstering a chair like this.

If you don’t think you can commit to full on buffalo check, it can easily be added in with a throw or tablecloth. Here are two great examples to use today!

Nancy: So great to see all your ideas and projects! I’ve thought of you often this summer as I’ve tried to make some changes to our house! I love the neutrals; it’s amazing what some fabrics and paint can do to change the look of a room! I hope you and your family are doing well! I was in Fernandina Beach in June and saw Julie Jones; next time I hope we can get together as well!

Diana,
You should have called me. I would have loved to have seen you! I hope you are doing well. Are both of your children off at college now? Wow, how time flies. Hayden is going into 7th already. Whew! We are loving living here…although it is hot right now. What changes have you made? I would love to know. Your house was always so pretty. Have a great start to the school year.
