Hello everybody. Fall is just around the corner and I’m excited to get started on decorating my door for all of the upcoming holidays. Burlap wreathes are everywhere and I’m anticipating making my own version for my front door. So, today I thought I would highlight an easy tutorial on how to make a basic version and then I will spotlight some of the really sharp looking wreathes I have found to inspire me. I hope they inspire you to make a fall burlap wreath.
Yvonne from Stone Gable has a great tutorial on making the base components of a burlap wreath.
It’s an easy process and is an inexpensive project. I buy my wreath forms and burlap ribbon at WalMart, unless you have a great coupon to use at one of the craft stores, I have found them to be the cheapest. Once you build the base burlap wreath you can change out the embellishments as the seasons change. You may not want to permanently adhere your items just in case you decide to do this. Now for the good stuff, some inspiration!

Isn’t this wreath with the simple letter and chevron designed ribbon inviting? What a great way to call attention to your door from the street. I love how the bright color pops against the dark door. The contrast adds so much more interest. Remember, light door should have darker colors to create that contrast and dark doors should have lighter colors. Of course these rules don’t always apply. The important thing is to do something that makes you happy when you drive up to your house.

I absolutely adore this monogram wreath. It is so whimsical and fun! What great inspiration to start planning my own wreath. Maybe use an orange/rust ribbon and some orange, yellow, and brown flowers to pull in the fall colors.

How cute is this pumpkin wreath? So adorable! I could pop a scary face into the center for Halloween and then take it out and add some fall leaves around the bottom to carry it all the way through Thanksgiving.

I love the mix of orange and black and the different prints on the ribbon. A chevron stripe with a polka dot and a solid. What a great combination.

This play on Santa Clause is so cute. I love the use of the red burlap and the belt. This would be cuter even still if it had a real leather black belt found at a thrift store.
Isn’t this snowman adorable? Perhaps I dream of snowmen because I live in an area that will never see a snowman in winter. Oh well. They sure are cute though!

To round out the inspiration I picked this simple burlap wreath with red poinsettias. Sometimes simple is just so inviting. I bounce back and forth from over the top Deck the Halls, to a more subdued Deck the Halls. I’m not sure what this year will bring. I can’t wait to find out though!
Happy Wreath Making!
