It was the eve of Christmas Eve…and I was out shopping for “me”. Do you ever do that? I think I not so secretly get all of my gift buying done super early just so I feel “okay” about indulging in some of the awesome deals that fly right before Christmas. I had no intention of buying anything today when I ventured out with the kids. On our list: (1) haircuts for the boys, (2) lunch, (3) pick up a black sweater for my husband. Honest, that was the plan. It all went awry when I spotted these paintings at T.J. Maxx (stopped in to buy the sweater).
This was the first one I spotted. I totally covet the beautiful paintings by Bellamy of Savannah and Kerri Shipp. If I could fill my walls with their art I would be totally happy. However, there are too many projects around here that need my money. Someday….
In the meantime, I was happy to find two paintings at a totally T.J. Maxx price that gave me some of the same feel and colors from their paintings. Here is the other one I found.
Of course, coming home with two new paintings, and two new lamps (more on that in a minute) wasn’t exactly the shopping I had planned to do when I ventured out today. One thing I have learned over the years is that if you see it at T.J. Maxx and think you would like to own it, you better grab it, purchase, and then contemplate. Otherwise, it will most likely be gone when you go back. I knew I wanted to put them in the master bedroom because I am planning on pulling in this Richloom fabric.
I have loved this fabric for a while now and couldn’t decide if I wanted to use it the bedroom or the main part of the house. It has all of the colors I am loving right now. Plus, I have such an affinity for birds that I wouldn’t be able to resist this fabric if I tried. I hung the paintings over the nightstands but the large lamps that were in there were distracting. Luckily, I just purchased two new lamps. I ended up doing musical lamps around the house putting the new lamps in the dining room on the buffet and taking the old buffet lamps and putting them on the nightstand.
This was the before with the old lamps on the buffet. These lamps went in to the bedroom and the new ones went on the buffet.
This is the after. It is a subtle change. What I really loved about the lamps is their height. It is difficult to find tall slender lamps. I like the height in this space because the buffet is so large and the mirror is so tall. It keeps everything in scale. I’m not totally in love with the gold/beige tone of the shade. I have plans of finding some fabulous trim and dolling the up a little bit. All of the lighting in the house is brushed nickel so I love that these compliment the other lights. Here is an up-close of the lamp.
The master bedroom hasn’t really even hit my radar yet. There are so many other rooms in progress that I figured it would be done toward the end. I am giddy that I feel like I have a small start and a direction I am headed. Here is my nightstand as it is now. It is plain and this room needs quite a bit of help yet, but it. is. a. start. I have to be content with that for now.
Sorry the photo isn’t the best. It has been so dark and rainy here that taking photos in the house is nearly impossible. I hope y’all are having a very merry time.
