I have been totally obsessed with turning the closet in our 4th bedroom into an office for me. Have you seen the offices people build into standard closets with bi-fold doors? Some of them are amazing. Today, I thought I would round up some of the favorite ones I have come across to motivate me to get this project finished and maybe to spark an idea for you. Look at this fabulous closet office Jen from I Heart Organizing created.
This whole process has been a test in patience for me with solutions that sometimes hit and sometimes miss. I was used to having a great office space in our last home.
When we moved into this home I thought I could make it work with a secretary desk. Wrong. I love the secretary desk but it is just too small for me. I have discovered I don’t need a ton of space, but this is just a little too small.
So my solution is going to be to create an office in our 4th bedroom’s closet. The rest of the bedroom is going to be turned into a media room. I have a 13 year old who has an XBox One and friends…need I say more? Let’s see what others did with their closet spaces.

Aren’t these great closet offices? I think one of the key elements is going to be storage. Based on what I see in these photos I think it is a combination of storage space through shelving and drawers and using organizers effectively. I think I want to do some shelving that runs the width of the closet. I also know I want to store my printer below the workspace counter. Electricity will be an issue. I need a place to plug in my laptop and closet offices do not come wired for electricity. Lighting will also be an issue. Do I want to do some sort of over head lighting or use a plug in lamp?
There are still a lot of decisions to be made but I am ready to jump off and turn my “catch all” closet into functional space. I will still keep my secretary desk. I plan to use it for writing cards and notes to friends. The drawers can hold all of my stationary and extra gift supplies. Two problems solved with one project!

Thanks for all the inspiration! I’m working on my office space too. Thought it is a good sized room, my desk area is small and I’m always challenged with keeping it organized. Hope you get your dream office space soon! Bwg ~~~
