I think there are two kinds of people in the world when it comes to travel souvenirs and dressing for the occasion, those who really thrive off of those items and those who could take it or leave it. I have to say, for me, I have always loved souvenirs, team shirts, and dressing up for dress up days at school. I do most of my clothes shopping before vacations, just so I will have the perfect thing to wear. That’s not always the best idea because (1) I spend money I could spend on vacation and (2) it adds stress to my life making me feel like I really need a vacation. Sometimes I really envy people who don’t feel the need to go “all out”. They end up going to the same events and have just as good of, if not a better time than those of us who work so hard to have it all just right. So, why do I do it? The answer is simple. I love it. My first real memory of this was shopping with my mother for an Easter dress and coat. Finding just the right things to wear adds to the excitement and anticipation of a great upcoming event. Disney may be the mega event for planning what to wear on a vacation. Not only is there a cute factor, but there is a huge comfort factor. Have you seen people in Disney? Family matching t-shirts that are too cute. Kids with embroidered outfits walking around and women with custom Mickey Mouse ears.
Florida residents receive a nice discount on hotels and annual passes for Disney. This past fall we splurged and purchased annual passes. Based on the fact my family adores going to Disney I felt like I needed to develop a Disney wardrobe. I didn’t want to break the bank though. Here’s my new collection of t-shirts.
Aren’t these Star Wars shirts so fun? We will be attending a Star Wars weekend and I wanted t-shirts for the whole family. Mr. Handsome is going to be Darth Vader (of course) and I’ll be his Queen Amidalla. My little guy is going to be a cute R2D2 and my bigger guy is going to be C3PO. I purchased these iron-ons from Pixie Dust Designs by Me. You can click HERE to go to her Etsy shop. I love the little mouse ears on all of them. I simply bought iron on transfer paper and printed them right at home. I love the vintage look they ended up having.
I made the above 2 t-shirts for my mother. They are going with us and I didn’t think I should have all of the cute Disney t-shirts to wear. The black Mickey Ears with the glittery monogram are from Toluvers Creations on Etsy. You can click HERE to go to her shop. This was a custom vinyl she created and sent to me and I love how it turned out. The floral Mickey Ears are totally my favorite. I think they turned out so adorable. This was another download that I was able to print at home. I bought the floral Mickey Ears that were plain and I customized them on PicMonkey. I purchased the floral Mickey Ears from Tiffany and Girls. She has so many cute ones. It was really difficult to pick just one! You can click https://www.etsy.com/shop/TiffanyandGirls to go to their shop.
This is my collection of t-shirts. The floral and black Mickey Ears are from the same shops listed above. The glittered Minnie Mouse bow was an iron on I ordered that was shipped to me. It is super duper glittered, which is really fun. It just sparkles. It was really easy to apply. I ordered the Minnie Mouse bow from MP Shine Designs. You can click HERE to go to that shop.
I’m so looking forward to wearing this Disney wardrobe on our upcoming trip. Overall, the cost was very low. I purchased t-shirts on sale at Belk. All together, I paid about $85 combined for all the t-shirts. I paid $45 for all of the downloads and iron-ons (some I will be able to use over and over again). I spent another $20 on the iron on paper and I have several sheets left over for an upcoming project. I used the Target brand (Up & Up) and was really pleased with it. That is a grand total of $150 for 9 custom t-shirts. That is just a little more than $15 per shirt. Sounds expensive right? Well, Disney t-shirts are even more expensive in the parks and they don’t come monogrammed.
There are a ton of great DIY Disney t-shirt projects on Pinterest. I hope this inspires you to go to your next event or vacation with a festive spirit. Life is short. Playing hard is not optional…it’s a must.
For a ton of Disney inspiration, visit the Queen/Guru of all things Disney, fellow blogger Amanda from Dixie Delights. She has so many great reviews and gives an “outline” of each day they are in a Disney park. I have learned so much about the act of scheduling a Disney vacation from reading her posts. You can read all about Disney on Amanda’s site, click HERE. She also has some really great projects like custom Lilly Pulitzer Minnie Mouse ears.
Thanks for reading! I love comments. If you have a few seconds I would love to know which t-shirt is your favorite.
By the way…we have a Lilly winner!!!! Sally Welch, it’s your lucky day! I had 15 comments and subscribers. I asked my son totally out of the blue to pick a number between 1 and 15 and he picked number 7! You were the 7th comment. I guess it’s true…lucky number 7.

I forgot completely about the t-shirt from our family trip to the park. It’s a white tee with a red Minnie outline with MiMi under it. I love it but it only works if I take my grands. Have a wonderful trip! (Maybe we will see you.)
