You know how you go into the thrift store and see a perfect little table just begging for a shabby chic makeover? Its $8.00 price tag calls to you and despite your best efforts to walk past, you pick it up and buy it anyway. I’m not the only one? Oh good…that’s a relief.
As I drove away with it in the backseat I kept telling myself that it was such a useful piece to have even though I didn’t have a spot to put it. It stayed out in the garage for quite some time until I was working on my laptop sitting on the sofa. I thought, I wish I had a tray table. Light bulb moment!!!!
Her humble beginnings.
I actually thought about leaving the chippy worn look…but my love for French white just wouldn’t take it. She had to get a coat of white and I’m so happy I did.
She has some sweet little details I brought back by doing a little light sanding. They’re subtle, but that is the best part.
She can be picked up with one hand weighing in at just 5 lbs. I don’t know how a table can only weigh five pounds. Weird. By the way, I weighed her on the scale…just to check. 🙂
Let me tell you, I have bought mascara for way more than $8 that didn’t live up to it’s promises so my expectations for this little table were kinda low. But, you know what? She has been super useful so far. She is a track for my son’s Lego jeep. A makeshift desk for my laptop. A holder of a plate of snacks during a late night summer movie marathon and she is great as a foundation for some beautiful peonies.
Her long legs make me wish I was three inches taller with super long legs too. If long legs can do this much for a table, just imagine what they could do for me. *sigh*
Her official name is a Florentine table in case you wanted to search for your own. I highly recommend her.
If you love this little table makeover…maybe you should Pin her. Thanks!
Have an awesome day my friends!

You were so right to paint your lovely find white…clean and fresh, like white sheets flapping on the clothesline. Love it.

Oh WOW! What a score for $8.00. I’d love to find one and I’d definitely paint her white—just like you! Guess that kinda makes us blogging soul sisters —who loves your white table makeover AND who could use 3 inches tacked on to the ends of my legs. #shortgirlproblems #thestruggleisreal XOXO Susie from The Chelsea Project
