This project is brought to you today by a quick trip into War-Mart to buy a dozen eggs. I got the eggs…and everything I needed to make this cute lumbar pillow from two Wal-Mart Better Homes and Gardens placemats.
Isn’t it so cute!?! Who could pass up some cute placemats like this for $1.59 a piece? Not me that is for sure. It was so easy to sew this little removable pillow cover. I simply sewed it with a zipper in the bottom so I can change things out when needed. If you want to see the tutorial…hop on over to my Instagram. I saved the tutorial in my highlights reel just above all the pictures.
While I had the sewing machine out I stitched up a few more pillows to give this little bench some extra cheer. I love mixing different fabrics together to create a feel for a space. This is just a great little spot to sit and put my shoes on before heading in the backyard. I keep my “watering” shoes in the basket so I can quickly slip them on before I go outside to water the flowers.
It was such a fun project. I’ll be sure to always walk down that aisle. I’m not a big fan of cloth placemats (hello kids) but I will put them on a pillow any day of the week.
Now, can we talk about the elephant in the room? on the blog? Not really sure how to say that. I know I have been pretty absent around here really since about the New Year. I’ve been a little hit and miss.
We are in the process of making some big decisions around here. You know… the kind of decisions that induce motherhood insomnia at 3:00 a.m. Everyone is happy and healthy and perfectly fine, so we are very blessed in that regard. Let’s just say you may see some posts hitting the blog about how to get your house ready to go on the market. I can’t really say much more than that right now. Please know, I think about you guys all the time. I’ll try to share more as I can and will for sure let you know when we finalize decisions.
Thanks so much for all your sweet messages! I will so try to be more consistent on here as we move through this process.

So good to hear from you, my friend! I was so happy to hear that you are all healthy. Don’t you worry about posting! Just post whenever you have some “spare” time! I know that sometimes the spare time is just not available! It is always good to hear from you. I just thought that I had missed a post while my computer was in being repaired! No worry! It sounds like you have a lot of decisions to make so don’t worry about posting!
Nancy, I’m glad to hear that there is someone like me who goes grocery shopping and comes home with some little extras! I love to shop at Walmart!
What a great idea you had, Nancy, to make a pillow from placemats. I never thought of that but now I will definitely be on the lookout. And, what a great price! The pillows you made are really lovely and look so great on your bench. You are just a wealth of knowledge and I just enjoy your posts so much. I also love your decorating. You are so gifted, Nancy! Your home is so beautiful with all the personal touches you have added. It’s all those little personal touches that add so much to a home.
The piece of salvage that you have above your bench is lovely. I just love “antiques”!
Hope you have a great day, Nancy! I will keep you in my prayers as you and your husband go through the decision making process.
Blessings!

What a wonderful idea for pillows…adding the zipper is genius…so easy to remove and store without the bulky pillow. Using place mats is a fabulous idea…love the black/white. Glad you’re back…I did miss your posts. 🙂
