I’m a total snob. A wood snob. At the beginning of my DIY journey I used to look for the cheap wood but as I have done more woodworking I have shifted to wanting good wood to work with. A wood snob. If I’m going to go through all the work of creating something, why wouldn’t I want to work with good wood? Well, today my mind has officially been blown. I’m giving up my snobbish ways and am now dumpster diving for my wood. Behold.
Look at that grain!!! The beat up I’ve been through a world of hurt character only old wood can achieve.
I wanted to give this console table in our entryway a little bit of coastal appeal and after my woodworking art project, I was itching to tackle another pieced together piece. 🙂
Everyone needs a little chevron in their life and I felt this was the perfect project to fulfill that obsession. I can’t tell you how happy it makes me every time I walk through the front door and lay my keys down on that amazing wood. Seriously…look at this wood.
Can you believe it is from a pallet? A pallet!!!!
I wasn’t really planning to give the entryway a little makeover, but then I felt like a traditional rug would elevate it a little more. I’m currently on the hunt for an ornate French mirror to top her off. I’m really loving the rustic and refined quality of French Country mixed with some coastal.
I’ve also been on a little obsession with peonies lately. I so wish they would grow in the heat of Florida! I would totally feel like I was living in a Jane Austen movie if I could take a basket outside and cut them to bring in. *sigh* Hibiscus just doesn’t have the same dreamy appeal.
I’m linking up with some other ladies who tackled their own pallet projects. Show them some love and visit their sites to see what they created. 🙂

Looks great, Nancy. Love the chevron look with the crisp, white base. I haven’t made anything from a pallet either, but you’ve surely inspired me to give it a try. Enjoy your beautiful new foyer. It’s so very lovely. Susie from The Chelsea Project

Nancy, this is lovely! I haven’t made anything ‘furnitury’ out of pallet wood either. But the rugged top over the white is really quite nice. Question, when you made your chevron did you pre-cut the outside edges or did you put them on and then trim them off like you would making a deck?

I’m totally stealing this idea! I’ve been wanting to do the top of our tv console but haven’t known exactly what I wanted to do, but now I do!
