The first of the paint projects is officially done…and here it is!
If you remember the before picture of the chair I posted a while back, it started out looking like this.
I sanded, primed, painted, and used a satin poly on the chairs and the table. I thought about using chalk paint and skipping some of the steps, but I wanted to use a custom color paint by Sherwin Williams. After we moved in to our house, I walked through another house that was being built up the street. The painters had just finished touching up some paint in the house and were packing up. One of the painters mentioned to me that he painted my house and gave me his card in case I ever needed anything painted again. I asked him what color he used on the trim around the base of my cabinets and I was super thrilled when he said he still had the can of custom color he had mixed for my house in the back of his van. He ended up just giving it to me! So excited! I went back to Sherwin Williams and had them catalog it with my address so that I can have it mixed again anytime in the future. I have other projects to use this particular paint on.
I opted to keep the base the stained color. I like the mix…for now. I always have the option of going back and painting it out. I love the detail on the base.
Here are some pictures of the newly painted table and chairs all dressed up for dinner.
I used a cake stand and flower vase from Southern Living to create a center piece. I added some shells just to give it that slightly coastal feel.
Of course, I set the table with my beloved Portmeirion dishes. I love that each plate is different. With Portmeirion being produced for so many years, it is great to find unique pieces everywhere to add to my collection.
