Have you ever run a marathon? Confession…I’ve never run more than a mile unless physically forced by some over zealous P.E. Teacher. Well, the One Room Challenge feels more like you run a marathon every week, and by the time you are done with it, all you want to do is sit down in your comfy chair in your comfy P.J.’s, sip coffee and watch a Million Dollar Listing marathon. Now, that’s a marathon I like to run.
I’ve been doing a lot of sipping coffee and contemplating…and not doing any running. So, what’s my next move? I’m going to try to pick up blog life as usual. When we left off, I was in the middle of finishing our master bedroom. So far, I had completed a blue and white wall all from the thrift store.
Then I moved on to our bay window and finished making a wooden valance to finish out the space. I installed sheer white curtains to give it more of a soft look. A tutorial will be coming your way on how to achieve this look for a very low cost.
You may have noticed the chairs in the above photo are now in the One Room Challenge room. Don’t worry…I pulled out some chairs I had waiting in the wings. They’ll receive a paint makeover and new fabric. Here’s one I was using in the foyer as a spot for my purse to land. I found its long lost cousin who has yet to receive a makeover a while back.
I shared the main inspiration fabric for the room. Every time I look at this fabric it makes me so happy.
I also found a pair of vintage mirrors to go over each night stand. I painted them a grey color and so far have liked them, but I think I need a pop of color…so they are going to be getting a sassy new color. No neutrals here.
I’m picking up where I left off in the master bedroom and will be tackling bedding, a bench makeover, new lamps, a mirror redo, rug acquisition, and some fun art mixed with vintage oyster plates in the coming weeks.
In addition, I’ll be tackling this amazing chair I picked up at the thrift store for an unbelievable price of $7.50. It is going to have its own makeover moment and the fabric should give you a little clue.
I’m teaming up with a great group of bloggers to bring you some summer flower inspiration. I snapped a quick photo with my phone just to give you a little preview of what I pulled together for that post.
So now that I feel like I have run a marathon and had my moments to sip coffee and relax, I’m ready to start embarking on new projects. I sure hope you come along for the ride with me, because it is bound to be filled with twists and turns as I work to take our builder grade home and turn it into something special.
If you were here we could walk around my house and stare at the spaces and talk about all the possibilities. It would be so fun. 🙂 But alas, we’ll just have to do it through this little ‘ol blog.

I love the fabric. What is the brand name? It would be perfect to use as wall covering in my coastal theme bedroom.
