I can’t believe I haven’t really shared this here before. I have a favorite piece of furniture at home, a French Armoire, and thought it was about time it had a little of the limelight. It is the only giant piece of furniture I own and it is soooo heavy it sat in the place I put it right when we moved in…until the other day.
I moved it into the corner of the living room because we literally didn’t have another spot to put it in the house. I’ve made some big changes I’ll be sharing in the coming days in terms of furniture arrangement. I sort of get a bee in my bonnet and before my husband knows it I have him helping me shift everything. I fool him by just starting with one piece of furniture, a heavy French Armoire, and then it becomes a chain reaction. But I think I’m finally satisfied with the set-up. It only took me two and half years.
Lately I’ve been a little obsessed with wreaths on door and mirrors. I know it’s not a new thing. Sometimes I’m early to the party and sometimes I’m late. I think my mind has to cycle through all the things it needs to think about before it suddenly realizes it really loves wreaths on doors, especially hung with ribbons.
Especially cotton wreaths found at JoAnn’s for 60% off. Hello! It was a matter of cerebral necessity they came home with me. I may or may not be showing you some pretty moss versions later this week. Okay, okay…I totally give, I am going to show you moss ones too. My mind is at rest though.
Now it’s free to think and dream about cabinet hardware, light fixtures, and Christmas vignettes with nativity scenes. Oh how I dream of those. I did recently make a promise that Christmas would not appear in our home before Thanksgiving. He didn’t see I had my fingers crossed behind my back though, so it doesn’t really count.
This morning as I sat drinking my Tazo Chai Latte I admired my cotton wreaths hung on the doors of my French armoire with ribbon. Then this afternoon when I turned on the Spongebob movie for the 100th time, I batted my eyelashes toward the cotton wreaths hung on the doors with ribbon and smiled to myself. Then tonight while I was cutting the ends off the green beans I gazed over at them and sighed.
Corny, but true. It feels kind of like when my smelly boys and their stinky feet shower and dress up in a suit and tie with their hair combed nicely and wear non-smelly shiny dress shoes. I feel like maybe, just maybe, there is a gentleman in there.
Have a fantastic day my fellow decor obsessed!

I know right? I was just hiding this little gem…I guess. It just was never in a good place to photograph…just sitting on a big wall in an open space. Now it makes so much more sense.
Thanks karianne!

Dear Nancy, I have an Ethan Allen French Country armoire that’s probably 30 years old and going strong! It’s my favorite piece in the house and we just moved it back to the starring spot in the living room — looks so good. On top, I have a collection of my best blue-and-white porcelain pieces with blue faux hydrangenas in the large vase! Seems as if you would like my living room — I certainly like yours!
Last Christmas, I hung boxwood wreaths in all the windows with red ribbon; it really added an English Country charm.
Sorry this post was so long — just wanted to say hello and “we have so much in common.”

Oh Maureen I can picture it. It sounds like you have ALL the things I love…French Country, Blue and White, and hydrangeas. It sounds so lovely. I would love to see a picture (if you want). I’ve actually had this piece for 20 years, it was one of the first things my husband and I bought of “real” furniture after we purchased our first home.
Thanks so much for sharing. Hearing from the people that read this little blog makes my heart sing. Have a wonderful week Maureen!
