I knew I wanted to find a “sparse” tree this year and was thrilled when I found this one online. I thought about keeping it super simple and not even really putting anything on it. But that didn’t seem very Merry. At first, I had it in the family room until I noticed everyone else in the family tipping their head sideways looking at it and saying nice things to mom like, “I guess it could be cool.” and “I’m sure it will look better with some lights on it.” They couldn’t see my vision.
So, I moved it into the master bedroom and gave myself free reign. I pulled out all of my coastal ornaments and ordered some clip-on lights since string lights would ruin the effect.
I know this may not be everyone’s cup of tea…but I love it. I love being able to see all of my ornaments and hope to add even more coastal ornaments to my collection. I wanted a tree that highlights the ornaments and this does that perfectly.
It doesn’t feel heavy in the bay window of the bedroom and I love that it lets the light flood through the tree.
Next year I want to find some kind of coastal basket to set the tree in. It would require a QuickCrete base to hold it though and I simply ran out of time. This is the year I declared I am going to decorate and then sit back and enjoy the season. Whatever is done…is done. Family time takes over and I am enjoying that soooo very much.
It’s also really pretty at night too. Night photography is hard but I tried to capture how pretty it is in the space.
Now let’s check out the rest of the beautiful Christmas Trees!

Tasha says
I love the understated elegance of this “minimalist” tree. It’s just enough without being too much in such an already beautiful space. I love how the ornaments compliment the gorgeous fabric on that chair.
Nancy says
Thank you so much Tasha! It has been refreshing to try something new this year.

I love your coastal tree…love how it lets in the light from the window and the tiny lights are perfect. Your vision is coming through loud and clear. 🙂 What are clip on lights? No wires? Batteries? Solar? They look great.
Nancy says
Thanks Jeanne! Yes. The clip on lights are from Amazon. They are battery operated and come with a remote control. Although I have one rogue one that keeps turning on during the day. I think maybe the TV remote in the living room is doing it? They are fun though.

Debo says
If I were to walk into a shop that sold completely decorated trees and would deliver them set up in my home…….. Yours would be the one I would choose. It is so perfect and you can see and enjoy each and every ornament.
LOVE the captain!!
Sometimes fuller is not always better.
Nancy says
Oh Debo! Thanks for the compliment. I actually read this comment out loud to my hubby. Even he was like…wow! Have a wonderful week!

Patricia Simms says
Confession… I am not usually a fan of “coastal” but I LOVE your tree! It’s the perfect match to your ornaments, your room, and your coastal style. Would you share where you got your teee? My own creative juices are flowing with ways to use such a tree in my own decor. BEAUTIFUL!
Nancy says
Thank you Patricia! I ordered my tree online from Target. I just went online to try to find it and I don’t see it on there…although they have a 5.5 foot version for $70 right now. Mine is the 7.5 foot version. I hope this helps.

Erlene says
I’m on board with a coastal tree and have wanted to do one for years, but my kids feel the same way. They like traditional colors, so it’s been hard to move away from those colors. I love your tree and I may have to do a mini coastal tree for our bedroom too.
