Welcome! I’m so excited to share a little bit more of my Christmas home with you today. If you are arriving here from Lynn’s tour at Back To The South, I want to say thanks for coming on over! I’m Nancy and I live on a barrier island in Florida where I mix my love of French Country with my love of a casual coastal vibe.
I also want to say a huge thanks to Olivia from Reinvented Collection for putting this amazing hop together! Thanks girl.
My Christmas Kitchen
If you are new around here, I made a pledge a while back that this year I was going to keep it simple. Not get bogged down with decorating and shopping and shopping and shopping so I would have time to enjoy the season. I’ve kept to my pledge.
Throughout my home I’ve added a little touch of Christmas without letting it become the scene from Elf where he redecorates the whole department store. This year I wanted to be able to breath and feel light. A big part of my decor this year has been adding double face satin ribbon to existing decor just to give it a little something extra.
There’s something about a big floppy bow that has captured my attention this year. I’ve also been incorporating a lot of faux greenery into my spaces. I find just a bit of greenery tucked into a pitcher can really make it look festive.
I did a refresh on my kitchen a while back and I’ve been excited to decorate it for the holiday season. It feels so much more light and bright with the white cabinets and reclaimed wood backsplash. You can see the before/after pictures HERE.
I’m a big believer in adding Christmas touches to the decor you already have in place. I’ve tried to do that throughout the kitchen with simple additions like a little wreath or a sweet angel.
Kitchens decked out with Christmas everywhere are so pretty to look at but this is a working kitchen. It really gets used a lot, especially through the holidays so I try to keep the counters somewhat cleaned off. This year, so far, it has really helped me not feel overwhelmed by clutter when I’m slaving away in the kitchen. π
One thing I adore about each season is the Mrs. Myers soaps. I have to be honest, when I saw bloggers gushing about the soaps I was a little skeptical. But, one of my favorite things is to buy her seasonal scents (Target carries them) and use them throughout the season. We just finished the fall scents and I was excited to put out the Christmas pine scented soaps. I hate doing dishes and this makes it just a little bit better. This is not sponsored. I just truly love them. π
Christmas Breakfast Room
Right off our kitchen we have a little breakfast space. I keep a secretary desk in this space that serves as my home office. It’s one of my favorite spaces to spruce up for the seasons since it is so visible from the kitchen.
This year I placed the nativity scene on the top and found a giant twig star to go above it. The photos don’t capture it, but the star twinkles every so slightly with just a dusting of sparkle. It’s so pretty in the evening. I enjoy sitting at this desk looking at the nativity.
My mother also sets up a nativity each year and as a little girl I would always rearrange and rearrange the figurines. I always insisted the animals be inside the stable. It’s how I imagined it all those year ago. I guess some things never change.
I kept the table decor simple this year also. Who wants to move a lot of stuff off the table every time the family sits down for a meal? Not me. Simple.
I tend to like symmetry because it seems to make my eye rest. There have been Christmas’ where I could hardly wait to pack away the Christmas decor and get a “clean” house again. I don’t think I’m going to feel that way this year.
Our house is wide open and the breakfast room runs right into the family room. I love the placement of my tree this year because it is visible from every area.
Christmas Family Room
We have one main living space in our home. There isn’t a formal living room. I try to keep it a little formal and a little casual to meet the needs of both adult guests and my kids.
My French armoire is by far my favorite piece of furniture that I own. This year I topped it off with a lot of faux greenery and a few wrapped presents. I added some extra fancy tassels for the season and love how it makes it feel more homey.
I love adding a few key pieces to table tops rather than overwhelming them with decor. This carved table is such a joy to sit next to when I sip my coffee in the morning next to the Christmas tree.
It’s the little details that make it feel like Christmas around here. I love the combination of the darker bells mixed with the bright colors of the ornaments.
I have a few more elements to the family room that are currently in the works. I’ll be sharing those soon.

Absolutely stunning, Nancy! I love how simple you made your decor. I had to laugh at your comment about the kitchen table – I need to start taking your advice. Ours is packed full of decor-related things that have to be moved if we want to sit down to actually use it π
Best,
Kelly
Olivia- Reinvented Collection says
Hi Nancy,
There is so much to love in your home. You and I do have similar taste in decor. Your lamp is wonderful and the French armoire is divine!
Can we just talk about your pantry door finish? My eyes are popping out of my head…. that is the best functioning decor feature in your kitchen and the simple wreath is the perfect touch. I just can’t get over the beauty in that corner
and the architectural details on the door…… but the finish is wonderful!
I love Mrs. Meyers countertop spray and soaps too. Basil is my favorite scent. Long before bloggers were raving about it I used it. Who knew it would become the talk of the town but I sure feel like I missed the bus on that. Ha ha. There’s a seasonal peony scent that comes out in late spring. We don’t get that one up here but I hear it smells really nice. Even though I love peony scented everything, I’m unwilling to pay for shipping that runs almost as much as the product itself. The cost of shipping to Alaska is ridiculous and many places won’t ship here anyway. ?
Your home is just so beautiful and I love the simplicity of your Christmas decor. Your dining room, though….. now that’s a show stopper right there! It’s truly breathtaking. Thank you so much for participating with It’s A Wonderful Life Christmas Tour. It was great having you. <3
Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas,
Olivia
Nancy says
Oh thank you Olivia! You are so sweet. I also love that door in the pantry. Can you believe it was just a hollow core door from Home Depot? It’s amazing what a little added millwork can do. I hope you have a lovely Christmas and it was sooo wonderful being part of your home tour. Thank you so much for inviting me.
Hugs,
Nancy
