Do you do fresh flowers? I have to say, I normally don’t do fresh flowers because (a) they can be pricey and (b) it makes me sad when I have to throw them out. But, the other day we ventured down to Trader Joes and I just couldn’t resist coming home with some flowers. A rare fresh flower splurge and real flowers gave the week a feeling of luxury.
I also cut some hydrangeas from the backyard a few week back and let them dry so I can use them all through the fall season. My favorite way to dry hydrangeas (not that I’m an expert) is to let them start to dry on the bush and then put them in some fresh water so the water is covering the end of the stems about and inch. Then just leave them alone to do their thing. They will be good for the whole season and I can even pack them away carefully and use them again next year.
You might notice I also change out the lamps on the buffet. I had fun doing this little painting project. Of course, they were $10 thrift store lamps (you know me). I used Amy Howard at Home One Step Paint and her Cracked Patina to create this old world super rustic look on them and I really, really love it. You can see the whole process on my Instagram page under the “Lamp Makeover” high light.
I moved the painted artichokes off the fireplace mantle onto the buffet because the mantle is starting it’s journey toward fall. I can’t wait to show you how I have revamped it. The gate has come down and something new has gone in its place.
Are you ready to start seeing some fall ideas or are you soaking up summer and fall is far from your mind? I’m ready for fall. This has been a tough summer and I’m ready for a change of season. I want to enjoy cool days on the patio sipping warm tea and talking with the people I love. Sweet Tea and I will alway have a deep rooted love, but now I’m ready for his hotter cousin.
I hope you have an awesome day friends! Let me know what you are wanting to see on this little old blog. Easy decorating ideas? Paint project on thrift store finds? Room makeovers? Shopping sources? To be honest, I’ve been loving these a lot more because life is just too short to run around searching for stuff, amiright?
I’m back in the saddle again….

I’m glad you are back also. I was sorry to see your instagram post about your dad, but glad that he is doing better. Are you coming down to see the Southern Living House?
