Have you ever had a day that is so crazy you never even have time to put on lipstick? I know this happens to me a lot and people end up asking me if I “feel okay”. Yikes! With one swipe of lipstick though, I suddenly look more rested and feel refreshed. Paint can have the same effect on a room. It can take a nice room and elevate it to a spectacular room in one swipe of a paint brush.
Recently, Hometalk asked me to curate a clipboard on painted walls and to say I was elated would be an understatement. Therefore, I have gathered together some of the most beautiful, high impact, and easy wall painting techniques that inspire me to seek out another wall to turn into my own personal masterpiece.
I love the horizontal stripe trend; it can really make a statement as seen in these great rooms and is so quick and easy even a beginning painter can have great results. If the thought of all that measuring and creating level lines seems daunting, why not try an abstract technique? The more “off” the lines are the more interesting the outcome. The modern-day stencils are not your mother’s stencils. I love the look of large stencils placed with large amounts of wall space in between. This creates a dramatic effect with very little paint or effort. Are you an off the wall thinker? Pull the paint up onto the ceiling to create the optical illusion of taller walls, or, paint the top fifth of the room with a pattern. To see the great rooms featured here and more, go on over to Hometalk and take a look at my curated clipboard.
I also wanted to gather some inspirational rooms from around the web, just to give those of you who clicked over here from Hometalk a little something extra. I adore this room created by Mandy at Vintage Revivals with this incredible wall painting technique.
I think it is uber-cool, much too cool for my little coastal house but inspiring none the less. I also love Amber’s abstract wall over at Simple Dwellings.
It gives her wall just enough impact without taking over the room. Over at A Beautiful Mess the moon is rising. Again, another example of a really cool graphic idea if you’re into that contemporary cool vibe. Also included are these totally graphic walls that really, really make a statement. I love the idea of a bullseye on a playroom wall. That reminds me, I need to swing in to Target.
The possibilities are endless, and remember, it’s just paint! If it doesn’t look good, just paint right over it and start again!
