Today I have a fun little rag tassel garland project for you. But, before I get to that…I have to make a confession. I thought I would be all high-tech amazing blogger and create a video tutorial for you on how to make these fans and tassels and I spend what felt like forever filming it while making everyone in the house be super quiet. Then I went to edit the video and put it together and found out the following:
A) The camera turned off before I was done with each segment…kind of like when you are talking on your cell phone and the other person’s phone drops the call and you just keep talking and talking and talking. Hmmm.
B) Holy crow-I need to lose weight (but I would get over my vanity to help you make this cute project)
C) I need a better skin care regimen. Seriously.
One day soon, I’ll try again. In the meantime, here’s what I created.
These cute little fans are everywhere but they can be a little pricey. I decided I would make my own. Each fan only takes one piece of 12 x 12 scrapbook paper cut into 4″ strips then accordion folded and joined together to make one long skinny folded piece of paper. Then join them end to end to form an open circle. Flatten the circle out to make the fan and hot glue a scrap piece of card stock on the back to keep it from popping up.
I created a printable with all the little Halloween “characters” you can print out to use for yourself. They could be used in so many ways. I added a little black sparkle to mine just to give them something a little extra.
I added some rag tassels to the garland. I love the sweetness of rag garland and it is so easy to do! I followed the rag garland tutorial from Ashley at Under The Sycamore. The hardest part was cutting all the pieces of fabric because it was a bit tedious. If you only wanted to add 5-7 rag tassels it wouldn’t take very long at all.
In fact, I had some tassels left over so I added some to this adorable little bunting I picked up in the Dollar Spot at Target.
Now I want to add tassels everywhere! Rag tassels are also really affordable. I was able to get 7 tassels out of one fat quarter.
You’ll find the printable below with several Halloween pieces you can have fun with. You can use these for so many different home decor and party decor. Have a haunting day!
