So, I have been away having fun and was a “bad blogger” because I didn’t have posts lined up and ready to go before I went. Sorry I missed a Textile Tuesday! I’m picking up where I left off though and thought I would share a little bit about the fun I have been having (even though it isn’t home design).
We met my in-laws in Orlando for a long weekend to attend the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. It was so fun! My MIL and I had such fun coming up with our costumes. We went as a Green Bay Packer Theme with my father-in-law as a Green Bay Packer coach, my husband as a referee, the oldest as a football player, the youngest as a football, and my mother-in-law and I as crazy fans.
We had so much fun coming up with the costumes and they were such a great pick. We received tons of compliments on them in the park and strangers and Disney cast members would walk up to us and just start talking because they were from Wisconsin. How funny!
For my costume, I sewed some fun fabric onto the bottom of a an old pair of jeans and and put a big “G” onto an old shirt. I also made a pair of “cheesy” Minnie Mouse ears following Amanda’s Pattern from Dixie Delights.
My mother-in-law sewed a band of Green Bay Packer fabric onto the bottom of a pair of white capris, bought a cute Green Bay shirt, and made an adorable hat. They live part of the year in Wisconsin so she was able to procure a lot of this fun stuff locally. It turned out so cute!
I ordered a brown t-shirt and sweatshirt from Amazon for my little one (plain brown is so hard to find). I took flat shoelaces and cut them to make the finger threads on the football by just gluing them to the front of his shirt and sweatshirt. I then found a logo online from an NFL official football and printed it on iron-on paper. I think he was cute as a football. We heard people all night saying, “Oh! The little one is a football!” He was so excited when people liked his costume.
For my oldest and my husband, I simply went online and ordered their costumes. I think the theme worked so well and above all else, we were super comfortable all night. If you ever have the chance to attend Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party I wouldn’t hesitate. A good time was had by all.
