I have a confession to make.
I’m addicted to thrift store shopping…like officially.
It starts on Saturday morning around 8:00 when I grab my first cup of joe and turn on the news. I tell myself I don’t need to pop in to the thrift store today because I don’t need anymore stuff. I’ll let those other women score big today.
Be happy with what you have, I tell myself.
Okay, I decide to go to just one more thrift store visit…then this happens.
A perfect little French Country table is just waiting there for me to take her home.
It was clearly meant to be.
She wasn’t perfect…just like me.
She had some rough spots…just like me.
She has a laminate insert meant to look like marble. So she had faux marble instead of the real thing. No big deal. I knew she had the potential to become this…
Now her legs look so refined and all the curves just show up so much more than when she was wearing that dark dress.
Funny how the curves on furniture look so sweet when painted white, yet if I were to wear all white…it wouldn’t look so sweet. I’ll stick with dark for my wardrobe.
Unbelievably, everything on this French Country chalk painted table came from the thrift store. Seriously. Even the books.
I used my new favorite combination of white and off-white DIY paint on this French Country chalk painted table. I painted the whole piece white and then went back with the off-white color and just dry brushed it on to give a little depth to the piece. Then I distressed it to make all the detail pop.
I left the little faux marble top alone. I’m not exactly sure what I am going to do with it. Luckily, I had the perfect tray to sit right over the top. I always find anchoring items on top of a table with a tray (even the lamp) helps it feel like a collection rather than random items placed on top.
If you’ve been around here for a while you may have noticed the nailhead chairs have reappeared from the media room into the living room. The media room is sporting a treadmill right now as part of my journey toward health. I love this position for them.
Of course I can’t finish a reveal of a French Country chalk painted table without a side by side before and after. We love those before and after shots don’t we? The power of paint is amazing.
I hope y’all have a great start to your week. Me? I think I’ll be heading to the thrift store to see what new treasure awaits for me there.
Btw, I may still have paint in my hair so if you see me pretend you don’t notice it okay? Thanks. You’re the best.

Love it. You do have the best thrift store(s). I’ve not seen such a well turned table anyway close to me. You did a great job with the makeover and an excellent job on the styling.
I too love thrift stores, but limit myself to once a month as my home is quite full. Looking for things to sell or donate that I don’t “love” as much as I used to….
Have a great week.

Such a pretty table!! I love her makeover! You did a great job, thanks for sharing. When I was there on vacation, my mom and sister and I visited several thrift stores on the island and a couple right off the island. I always go home with several thrifty treasures! I saw the desk you painted with the rope handles at the Pickers Market. While there, we also got to meet CoCo! That was so much fun! Have s great day!

OH yes. This little table absolutely needs to be white. The difference in the before and after is amazing. Thanks so much for linking to Friday’s Furniture Fix. We are so thrilled to have you share with us.
