I am a sucker for anything French Country and if it involves a laurel wreath…I’m gone. Seriously. It’s one of my favorite things. I picked up this black cabinet at the the thrift store a while back and knew it would be the perfect cabinet to hang on the wall near our door leading to the garage. I have been looking for a solution for the keys and sunglasses but wanted it to have style and “hide” away all the unsightly. This French Country bee cabinet is perfect! It didn’t come with the cute bee stenciled on it though. I did that myself and it was sooooo easy.
To stencil the wreath and bee onto the mirror I used this gorgeous stencil from A Maker’s Studio. It was so easy to do it even surprised me. I first cleaned the mirror well. Then I positioned the stencil onto the mirror (it clings sort of like those window clings). Then I used the darker brown color called Slow As Molasses on the stencil. I pulled the stencil off and washed it off right away. Once the brown had dried completely I positioned the stencil again on the mirror but set it off just a little bit from where I put it the first time and put the metallic gold Chalkart on. I pulled the stencil off and BAM! Done! If you mess up you can clean the whole thing off because the Chalkart is water based.
If you want to see a video of the whole thing I saved it to my highlights of my Instagram profile. Just click HERE to go to my Instagram profile and click on the circle that says Maker’s Studio to watch the video.
I’ve provided links (affiliate) to all the products I used to create this look to make it simple for you to find:

By setting the gold “off” from the where I had stenciled the brown, it creates sort of a shadow effect. I think it gives it way more depth and interest.
There are so many ways to use this stencil! I can’t wait to stencil other items with it. I have a cute little footstool I think could use a little something special on the top. It for sure took this little cabinet from kinda cute to very cool. It is one of a kind now.
You know one of my very favorite things to do is find thrift treasures. I’m always on the hunt for pieces that can become something extraordinary and this French Country Bee Cabinet will be treasured in my home for years to come. I just know it.
I can’t wait to hang this on the wall and start using it every day. I know when I put my keys away I will look at this sweet little bee and laurel wreath and smile.
Have an awesome day friends!
