Here in Florida it hardly seems like fall could be right around the corner because the thermometer registered 97 degrees on my car today. But the signs of fall are all here with kids returning to school and the onslaught of political ads on every channel (if you don’t live in a swing state…be thankful).
I thought today might be a great day to talk a little about fall inspiration and coming up with a plan for fall decorating rather than buying the first cute thing I see when I walk into Hobby Lobby. You do that too? I’m glad I’m not the only one who impulse buys adorable seasonal decor.
This was part of my fall decor last year. I’m totally gonna be honest here. I was going to hit you with this epic post featuring my ahhhhmazing fall decor from last year and tell you what is catching my eye this year but when I went back in to my blog recesses and viewed the post from last year I was a little…underwhelmed. At the time I seriously thought this was the most beautiful photo I had ever taken.
My theme last year was coastal blues mixed with silver with accents of coastal elements. It was pretty and I’m sure I will reuse some of the elements, but I want to change things up this year now that I feel like I have a better feel for the decor I love in this house.
This year I’m envisioning something a little more French, a little more Romantic, a little more soft, and still a little more coastal. So, let’s get this inspiration post started. I’ve gathered some of the pics I’m using as a jumping off point for planning my fall decor and I hope these inspire you as well.
The color palette of this first photo is amazing. I love the white pumpkins, soft pinks fading into the burnt oranges of fall. Who says fall has to be orange, brown, and black?
This place setting really inspires me because it is so simple yet so interesting. The monotone color and all the texture make it have interest and give way to the ribbon and greenery stealing the focus. Rather than creating fall tables that are fussy and overdone, this year I think simple and easy is the ticket. Plus ruffles. It had me at ruffles.

I’m for sure going to use urns in my decor this year. I used the one urn last year but my hope is to find some urns with some real patina to add into my decor. Add in the natural greenery and some pale pumkins and I think I will have a winning combination.

Nothing says fall to me the scrumptious velvet and textures that make you just want to snuggle up and read or watch a great movie. To me, down stuffed pillows with soft textures are a must.

The next photo captured my heart because the texture and patina on the candlesticks is amazing. The feathers and the cotton just add to the texture.

For me, this fall is going to be about texture, comfort, soft colors, and ease. It’s going to be more time spent dining with the ones I love rather than setting the table. More time sitting around the firepit than making over top decor. More time cozied up with soft textures and less time dusting knick knacks. Who’s with me?
Fall…here we come.

Lovely inspirations. I was especially inspired by the velvet pillows…they look easy to make…it’s all about the fabric. A French Fall…Yes!

I use urns also and have been known to paint a few. You can work your magic and create your own patina.
Love the inspiration photos.
