So the weather has slightly changed here and there is a bit of coolness in the air, for the morning at least. The front of my house is finally ready for fall. I know I am a little late to the party with this one, but I didn’t want to show it until I was totally ready.
I made these pumpkin topiaries about six years ago. When I pulled them out of the huge box all the pumpkins were laying on the bottom because the glue had let loose in all of the moving. So I had to rebuild them. So far they have stayed together even with some of the strong Florida heat that was here last week. Keep your fingers crossed that they make it through the season. Next year I might do something different for these urns.
If you remember, I hand-painted these pumpkins pillows for the front porch, modeled after some pillows from Pottery Barn I was too frugal to spring for. I think they turned out really cute. In fact, many of my neighbors have asked if I am going to make some more for them to buy. Hmmmm…will have to think about that.
I love this iron gate as the backdrop to our seating area. I bought it nearly 20 years ago at an auction and have hauled it across the country twice as we have moved from place to place without it ever really finding a good home. I think it was waiting for this house and this spot. It is so heavy and has that perfect chippy quality about it.
I purchased these great outdoor rugs from Overstock after the original Pottery Barn one I bought was “too nice” for anyone to walk on. More on that in another post. I love plaid and I think it adds a fresh look to the front of the house. I bought a 10 foot runner for under the porch and a 3×5 for the front door. I love that they match and are so easy to care for.
The front door is adorned with a burlap wreath that I made. You can see the post about that HERE. I love that I can keep using the same wreath just switch it out the accessories on it.
The little plug in pumpkin is kinda cheesy, but the littlest one loves to plug it in each night. My husband played a trick on the kids the first night it was plugged in by turning it around to look in the front door AT US. The littlest one’s eyes got so big until his big brother said, “Don’t let dad fool you. He turned it around.”
Thanks for looking at my fall front of house tour. Hope you have had a great weekend!
