Fall Centerpiece-Pile Of Pumpkins

This fall centerpiece couldn’t be easier and more festive.  Plus…I have something really, really fun I’m sharing at the end of this post! You don’t want to miss it.

When I said this fall centerpiece is a pile of pumpkins…I totally meant it!  It couldn’t have been easier to put together.  I kind of felt like the Oprah Winfrey of pumpkins for my dining room table.  “You get a pumpkin! and You get a pumpkin!”.  I had a lot of fun putting this tablescape together.  I was working on it with no kids or husband in the house and the dog didn’t think it was weird that I replaced the words to the song, “It’s Raining Men” with “It’s Raining Pumpkins…hallelujah!”  

So let’s break this centerpiece down into it’s elements so you can see how it came together.

Symmetry

I love symmetry and it is so easy on eyes.  I started with 4 candlesticks laid out to have perfect symmetry.  Then, adding one special pumpkin in the middle gave it a central focal point.  By placing an orange pumpkin on each side, another pair of symmetry was created.  It’s really just about math.

Color Scheme

I was going to stay pretty neutral this year, but I found this pale peach color and I have been loving mixing it in my great room.  These pumpkins look a little more orange in the photos.  In real life they are more of a dusty orange bordering on peach.  I kept most of the other pumpkins in creams, pale greens, and darker greens.

Break It Up

Rather than plop the pumpkins down on the table, I knew I needed to put something underneath to break things up.  I looked at table runners and tablecloths.  Then, I decided to grab a few of the shutters I had laying around to run them down the table.  I think it creates the perfect unexpected element to the table.  Look beyond the normal table accoutrements for something out of the ordinary.

Go Simple or Go Big

I have two ways I like to work a centerpiece for a table.  The first, is to go simple…very few elements laid out in a beautiful way.  The second is to go big.  That’s what I’ve done here.  It is sort of the concept that more is more is more.  When you work the middle (not simple but not big) it takes a really skilled eye to keep the interest there.  So, when planning your fall centerpiece think simple or think big.
