Recently I saw some adorable felt bows and thought of a felt bow garland.
You know when you see cute things on Pinterest and you immediately think, “I’m so going to make this” and you are all excited and you pin it,
you buy the supplies, you craft your little heart out, and it…just…doesn’t…work…out?
Well, that’s not today’s project.
This little felt bow garland is so easy, anyone could do it. Like, really. Like, really, really.
I recently moved things around in the eating nook which spurred me on to give my little black table a makeover. I bought some fancy wood appliques from Lowe’s and glued them on to the sides to fancy it up a little bit and give it a little more of the French feel I love. I then gave it a coat of Waverly’s paint in Mineral and lightly dry brushed white paint onto the appliques. It is so much lighter and brighter in the space and makes it feel more like the direction I am heading in this space.
I fell in love with this white deer the moment I saw him and knew he would have to be the star of this vignette. My goal was to create a bright and light vignette keeping neutral characteristics with a touch of whimsy and nostalgia. The felt bow garland gives it the little bit of whimsy I was looking for and the vintage deer print hits the mark for nostalgia. The felt bow garland done in a simple white felt without adornment feels fresh and clean in the vignette.
I found the vintage deer print online and clipped it up in the center of my planked wall frame. You can see how I created that here. It gives it an extra dose of sweetness to go along with the bows. I’m not really crazy about the blue and white lamp in this space and will be on the hunt for a more neutral one.
Y’all are not even going to believe this…but I made a video! I’m not sure I’m ready to be on video, but I really wanted to show you guys just how easy these little felt bows are to make. They would be great on top of presents, as garland on a tree or even on a little girls hair band. They are just so easy to make, I’m kind of addicted to making them. It just might be bow-arama here at the Lettered Olive Cottage. You can watch the full video here. Eeeek!
In case you missed it, here are the dimensions of the pieces you will need.
4″ x 2.5″ for “bow loops”
6″ x 1.5″ for “bow tails”
4″ x .5″ to cinch it together
Here’s a picture of how to cut two pieces of felt to make an eight piece felt bow garland.
This was such a fun project and such a fun post! I hope you liked it as much as I enjoyed making it. Now, go get your craft on and I’ll see you back here on Friday.
If you want to save this project for later, be sure to pin it so you can find it again. 🙂
You’re the best!
