Well, I’ve made it to week three and I actually have some progress to share with you. The first two weeks were filled with furniture buying at the thrift store and Facebook Marketplace. Seriously, people get rid of the best stuff! Why?
I also accomplished a little bit of painting which I hope will get mostly done over the course of this week (more on that to come). As evidence, I’m showing you the bottom half of the china cabinet. She’s a beaut!
So now let’s look at the top half. Let’s just say it’s a work in progress. Let’s not talk about the fact it has looked this way for four days. Yep, four days. But it will be done this weekend…God willing and the creek don’t rise.
I also picked up a whole dining set from Facebook Marketplace. I wasn’t planning on it really…but when I saw it advertised for $250 for the whole set I just knew it was for me. Here’s the table.
It’s in pristine condition…the whole set. I’m still trying to decide what I’m going to do with the table. I’m pretty sure I’m going to paint the bottom half and I’ve debated stripping the top so it would be more like my inspiration photo. But I think I’m going to load all the furniture in the room before I make any decisions. It does have two leaves so it can be 80″ long.
I have six of the chairs also. They are in perfect condition. Even the original fabric looks barely sat on.
I have such an affinity for caning. I mean, what’s not to love about it. I’m kinda having the same problem here. Do I paint over such perfection? I do know I want to make some really pretty little slipcovers for the seats and I’m really inspired by Marion’s slipcovers from Miss Mustardseed. Look….
Thank goodness she created a tutorial to show me how to accomplish this! Doesn’t it look pretty on the natural wood? Hmmmmmm…..
Then there is the buffet. I couldn’t grab a picture of it because it is in the middle of the garage and I didn’t want to ask my guys to move it just so I could take a pic. BUT….I did find the exact same buffet on Pinterest already painted! So it is sort of like seeing what it would look like before doing it. Lucky me!
Thanks Lori for painting this beauty so I can preview what it will look like painted! Didn’t she do a great job?
Just when I had about given up hope that I would never be able to get this all done.
When I was driving down the road talking to myself saying things like, “Why did you decided to do all this? Why don’t you just go to the store and buy stuff? Why do you have to decide to do everything?” I walked in to this….
My dear sweet husband painted the room for me while I was at work. I cannot tell you the relief that washed over me because painting this room just seemed so daunting to me piled on top of painting furniture.
I can actually see the space coming together and I can start imaging it. Can you? I’m giddy right now. I’m re-energized to get. this.done!
Thanksgiving is going to be fun this year.
Thanks Linda for creating the One Room Challenge so we can personally put ourselves through the highs and lows of remodeling/redecorating our spaces. Be sure to go visit all the other guest participants to see what they have accomplished.
Thanks for stopping by! Help a girl out and tell me what you would do with these pieces of furniture? Paint? Leave as is? Paint some but not others?

Such a beautiful dining set and what a steal of a price!! I should be so lucky! I vote to leave that beautiful wood top and paint the bottom! That is how I purchased my kitchen set and it is so pretty!!
I can’t wait to see the finished room!! Good luck…Barb

Barb,
That is sort of what I am thinking. I probably will paint the bottom and the buffet and leave the rest for now. My inspiration picture had a light wood table but I think I can deviate a bit.

Oh my, that set is gorgeous and right up my alley too! What a hard decision about painting. But if you didn’t care for your other set in wood, I’d paint the legs and leave the top the way it is. With ruffled seat covers, a pretty matching runner would set off the table nicely. Can’t wait to see what you do. I know it will be awesome!!!😍

Gabriele,
Right?!? I couldn’t believe when it popped up on FB Marketplace. I think I will leave the top and the chairs for now. I’m going to load them in the room and then determine. Thanks so much for stopping by! I appreciate the feedback.
