You might need to refresh you wardrobe if…
- They’re suggesting your outfit on season 2 of What Not To Wear
- A 25 year old woman asks you where you bought your top because she’s been looking for something like that for her grandmother
- You reminisce over pictures and realize you still have the same outfit in the picture that was taken almost ten years ago.
- You’re standing in line at the ice cream shop, look down, and your wearing your “good” cut off sweatpants with a t-shirt deemed “acceptable” because it doesn’t have paint on it.
Dressing my home for the Fall Blog Hop really put me in the fall fashion mood. Even though the temperatures where I live are no where near fall temps, I must admit it has me thinking about fall fashion.
Last summer I did a major closet purge and paired it way down. I really felt like I needed a little bit of a fresh start. So, I thought I would share with you my take on fall fashion for the non-twenty year old. Because, let’s face it, when you are in your 20’s the fashion world is your oyster. Your 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s? Not so much. Picking trends wisely becomes the name of the game.
Here are a few outfits and trends I’m going to try to copy to carry me into fall
The Eye Catching Sneaker and The Sweater As A Coat
I love the idea of simple black ankle pants paired with a tennis shoe. The leopard ones are so chic and such a great alternative to a more “sporty” tennis shoe. A sweater jacket paired with a simple tee can take it from cool mornings to warm afternoons…perfect for fall weather. I’ve sourced some items for this outfit.

I have also been looking around for a great sweater jacket to throw over a tee. T-shirts are one item I am not lacking on. They just need to be upped a little with another dose of style.

The Long Blazer Paired With Jeans Worn Casually
I’m also really loving the longer blazer that feels more casual. It doesn’t feel like it is something you borrowed from your work wardrobe. It has a casualness that makes it comfortable and the longer length is great for hiding hips and a bigger bum. Here are my two favorite examples, although I would pair it with a straight leg jean rather than a skinny jean. Pastels are big for winter this year (in case you missed the memo).
I sourced a few blazers I’m considering purchasing.

An All Black Outfit That Doesn’t Make Me Look Like A Hairdresser
The Unbelievable Bag
Okay, so I totally have a thing for purses…and not inexpensive purses. Although I lust over the latest Louis and Hermes, Kate is more in my budget. Here are a few Kate Spades I’ve been eyeing.
Here’s to cool weather and an even cooler wardrobe for fall. Take the challenge and look at how you can modernize your wardrobe with just a few key pieces.
Happy fall y’all!
