I don’t know if I’ve ever shared this before…but I live with guys who don’t like to part with anything. Some people would say they are creatures of habit. Some people would say they are sentimental. Some people would say they just don’t like change. When I say some people I’m really talking about me.
I have been accused , which I will totally plead the 5th, of getting rid of things behind their backs. Now, I can’t take anything to donate without a thorough inspection by the guys. So, when I realized we didn’t really have a space for my old Queen Anne desk and Hayden had grown quite fond of it…I knew I was in trouble.
So I hatched a plan. I convinced him, if he let me make it over into a coastal desk and sell it, I would give him the money. Total agreement. I think I have found the secret weapon to a 14 year old’s heart.
I knew I wanted to give it a coastal desk vibe so it would sell in my neck of the woods. I knew I wanted to do a healthy dose of white, because that is what sells around here. White furniture practically flies out of the vintage shops. I wanted to give it a nautical feel with rope handles.
I want to say the two-tone scheme was always in my plan, but really it stemmed from running out of white paint. In the end though, I really love how it turned out. When I brought it in the house, I kind of fell in love with it.
Hmmmm. But I already agree to sell it and give him the money. Plus, I really don’t have space for it with the dining room makeover I have planned. If it doesn’t sell on Craigslist it will go down to the local thrift and be sold on consignment. It’s just too cute though. The rope handles sent me right over the edge.
