Isn’t this an amazing list of creative, talented people? Now, I would love to say this tree went up easily and I just pulled out my Christmas boxes and whipped this tree up. Truth? This tree was a struggle this year.
I don’t know if it is because I’m in a new house or what…but I just didn’t have a vision for it until I started putting some ornaments on. Then, I had a total panic moment and told my husband maybe I’m just not cut out for blogging because clearly…all these other women do it so easily and I struggle.
I think about and plan and shop and think and decorate and redecorate and think and shop.
It’s a horrible cycle when it doesn’t come to me quickly.
Here was my dilemma. This is our major tree and I wanted it to feel Christmasy and not to “designer” because my boys (including my husband) just don’t get that whole thing. We have a family tree in the boys play room that is filled with all the family ornaments but I still wanted this tree to feel homey to them as we sit in this room and watch Christmas movies.
I have a little bit of an obsession going with birds this season. I have a few Owls, a lot of Cardinals, and a few Pheasants hanging around. I knew I wanted to do small pops of red because it just didn’t feel like Christmas this year without some red. It’s been a while since I used red in my Christmas decor.
This base was the item that got the whole thing going for me. This is a bottom to a vintage piano stool. I simply unscrewed the seat and dropped the tree in. It’s like it was made for it. Unfortunately, someone painted a hideous picture on the stool seat so I’ll have to deal with that after the new year. I’m not sure I can even strip it. But, thankfully they left the base alone.
I hardly want to wrap presents and hide the base. But, I will have lots of Christmas inspiration coming your way because I am done decorating for the season.

Love, love, it! So simple and beautiful! And the piano stool stand! What a fabulous idea! So where did you get the tree? I so want one!
Nancy says
Thanks Susan! The tree is from Target. I think it is called a blue for. I ordered it last year but I think they brought them back again this year.

Love, love, love the tree and that fabulous base…such a clever idea, but how did you get the tree to not wobble?? 🙂
Nancy says
Thank you! It actually is super sturdy. They stool seat screws down so far and the base is super heavy that it makes the perfect tree stand.
Wanda | From House To Home says
I love your tree, Nancy! Cardinals are my favorite bird, and they really pop against all the white. The tree stand is awesome, too. I never would have guessed you struggled coming up with ideas…but I think that happens to all of us sometimes.
Nancy says
Thank you so much Wanda. I think part of my indecision is also tied to budget. Lol.
maria says

Leanna says
I love the style of your tree, it’s very open and fresh without being sparse. The stool stand at the bottom makes your tree look like none other, wow. What a simply amazing idea!
Erlene says
Amazing! I love everything about your tree. The pops of red, the birds, the base…it’s all perfect! BTW – tree decorating doesn’t come easy for me either. Thank goodness we had lots of time to get our trees ready because I decorated mine twice.
Cindy@countyroad407 says
Nancy, your tree is perfectly Christmas and you’d never know it was a struggle. ALL BLOGGERS STRUGGLE. Even the ones that have been blogging for years. Love the stand and how open it is. I want one! Glad we’re hopping together.
Dru Beecher says
I love, love, love your tree! It’s one of my favorites that I’ve seen this year. And that base! I’m going to have to look for a vintage piano stool. Please know all bloggers struggle. I adore your tree.
Donna @ Modern on Monticello says
I really like your tree and the red birds really stand out. You are not the only one who mentally struggled with their tree this year. I changed my mind more than once, bought new stuff, changed my mind, bought more stuff and even made new ornaments up to the night before the reveal. It is just part of the process. Your tree is beautiful.
Michelle from Weekend Craft says
This is just the coolest base to a Christmas tree I have ever seen! I love that you needed a tree where you watch Christmas trees. Totally a necessity.
