I’m so excited to be in this amazing blog hop with so many incredible bloggers! Thank you Susie from The Chelsea Project for putting this fantastic group together!
So this year’s Christmas Tree started with a lot of anxiety on my part. Last year I really wanted to get a new Christmas tree with the new house and much higher ceilings, but I just couldn’t pull the trigger on it. A large purchase usually requires an immense amount of pondering, figuring, talking, and talking some more on my part. What can I say? I’m not a fast decision maker on some things.
This year was starting to shape up the same way. I just couldn’t decide. Hubs and I went to Costco to look at a tree and I still couldn’t purchase.
In just a few days, hubs and I will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. We had planned to meet up with another couple in NYC for a getaway, but when we couldn’t find a date that worked for everyone’s schedule, we decided to postpone it. When I came home from school the next day, this tree was set up in the living room with an anniversary card hanging from the branches.
I was thrilled. I had said I didn’t need another piece of jewelry since he has purchased me all the things in that department I’ll ever need for our 10th, 15th and 20th. Now, each year when we put up this tree we can remember our 25th.
But you want to know the best part of this tree? The thing I love about it the most? With one click of the button it goes to colored lights. My decorator heart loves the clear lights, but for show stopping beauty, nothing beats a colorful tree. We can click back and forth as much as we want.
Two totally different looks right? So perfect for me since I totally stink at making decisions. Obviously.
My mom gifted me their oriental rug. She doesn’t have a space for it in her condo and it was just sitting in storage collecting dust. They had this rug in their home for nearly 20 years. As soon as we put it down, my oldest stopped, stared at it, and said, “This feels like a warm home now.” Melted our hearts.
This year the house is a mix of reds and blues on the back half of the house. The front half is a little more neutral. I didn’t think the blue ornaments would be that big of a deal, but they are a game-changer. I love the bright contrast and fun it brings to the space.
The above is my view from “my chair”. This is where I sit and sip my coffee in the morning and watch Hallmark at night. I love looking toward the French armoire and seeing al the bright colors in the blue and white ornaments.
That’s another change…the mantel went black. I’m loving the drama it brings to the living room. It makes the really tall room seem more grounded.
So inquiring minds want to know. Do you like it best with the warm glow of clear lights, or are you a colored lights lover? I don’t know if I could pick just one. 🙂

I agree big trees are an investment, then all you worry about is will the light last, LOL. I am so glad the newer ones are LED with a longer life span now, and they are getting the warm white lights to look better. Your tree is beautiful, so glad you went for it!

Nancy, what a sweet gift! I know you’re going to treasure this tree for many years to come. It’s absolutely beautiful. I love how you can enjoy the lights both ways that’s such a cool feature too. All the ornaments you have are really pretty and I love how the rug complents it all. Great job! Hugs, CoCo

What an amazing story of love for this Christmas season. Mother Teresa said…”if you want to change the world, go home and love your family.” So this message of love in the form of a tree is so extra special. Kudos to Kurt. When I heard you describe the tree in IG stories, I immediately wanted one, too. You know me and trees….I never know when to stop. But it’s just so spectacular. I love it so much….and the colored lights….yes please. Looks great, Nancy. Thanks so much for hopping with us. Having you, your story and beautiful tree makes it so very special.

Nancy, your tree is an art piece! Although I’m a clear light person for my own tree (the room I have mine in doesn’t lend itself to colored lights) your beautiful rug, bright ornaments, and white upholstery are the perfect backdrop for the colored lights! I vote colored lights for you! Merry Christmas!

Nancy, the tree is Beautiful and such a sweet, heart warming story. My last tree and my newest slim one have the light changing feature from colored lights to white lights. I love it! I am a fan of both and it just depends on what I feel like and to be able to change them at the push of a button is the best thing ever!

What a sweet husband! I had colored lights up until last year when I had to have a new tree. I love seeing colored lights on trees because it reminds me of Christmas as a child. Your tree is beautiful.

Aw, love that hubby gifted you with this tree!!! What a sweetie! And what a great Anniversary gift! Not that jewelry isn’t good as well…but since you have everything you need…a big, grand Christmas tree with light options would surely be next on the list!
And yes, I would love that view towards that armoire as well!
Definitely keep those blues and reds on the tree…it is bright and cheery.
So glad to meet you on this hop!
Merry Christmas my (new) friend.
Hugs,
Lynn

Nancy, I always love to get your posts but this one is so special! What a wonderful hubby you have — and how fortunate he is to have you! What a lovely 25th Anniversary gift! It’s one that you will treasure for years! Happy Anniversary to you both. May you be blessed with many wonderful years!
Your home is just so beautiful, Nancy, and you have put so much hard work into adding all your personal touches! You have accomplished so much and have done such a wonderful job with everything.
Your tree is so beautiful! I love the way you have decorated it with so much color! I love it! The colored lights are so pretty and they are just perfect for your tree. Your carpet is beautiful. How nice that you can enjoy having it in your home now.
Nancy, I always remember the post you had showing your tree in your Master Bedroom. It was just so beautiful! Hope you were able to use it in your new Master Bedroom. You know, Nancy, once I saw how beautiful your tree was in your master bedroom, I just had to have a tree in our bedroom the next year and have been enjoying our tree there ever since! So, I thank you for this great idea! My husband even agreed that it was so nice to have it in our sitting area off our Master Bedroom. When, I decorate our tree in there, I always think of you and your beautiful tree!
Hope you are enjoying this wonderful time of the year in your gorgeous new home! Bless you for being such a special lady!

I can’t get over how pretty your tree is. It has such a lovely glow, and I am in love with the red and blue color scheme. I bet you never tire of that view. And how cool is it that you can change the light color so easily. Fun!
