Believe it or not, I am starting to have Christmas on the mind. I know, I know, way too early. But, I am planning on making some presents this year. In order to cut down on the stress I would induce upon myself by waiting until November to try to accomplish some of these things, I thought I would start early.
Remember those jelly/wine/coffee of the month gifts that were so popular a while back? It’s exciting to receive something great in the mail. I’m excited when I get a catalog or magazine in the mailbox instead of bills or junk mail, let alone a gift. My husband’s grandmother, 94, is a real girly girl. Can you even say that about someone of her age? Well, she is. She loves make-up, always has her nails painted, has a ring on almost every finger, and has her hair done at the beauty shop each week. She also really loves seasonal items to decorate her home and gets a real kick out of showing her friends that visit all of her kitschy holiday items. So this year I thought I would do a pillow of the month gift for her. I’m going to create 12 pillow covers to cover a standard 20 x 20 down filled pillow from Ikea, one for each month. When the pillow covers are not in use she can simply fold them up and store them taking up very little space. One pillow, 12 covers. I’m going to stitch them up now and then package each one individually and address them. That way they are ready to send at the beginning of each month starting February 1st (I’m going to give her January’s pillow at Christmas).
Today is all about inspiration for the pillows. I have gathered via Pinterest some great pillows to get the creative juices flowing. Enjoy!
