Rugs don’t seem to be as expensive as they used to be, or, rugs are more available now through multiple sources making lower priced options more readily available. Even though rugs are more affordable, picking a rug is still a challenge.
Designing a room with a new rug is commonplace now, as opposed to many years ago when people lived with the rug chosen for years on end. Even though the stakes aren’t as high as they used to be, no one wants to make a mistake. The question now is, how do you pick a rug that looks great with the other textile choices in the room? For instance, how do you pick a rug that looks great with the curtains you love?
Just like all the other textile mixes we have done, it is easy to choose a rug if you follow the right formula. Here is the low down, easy peezy understanding of the rug formula.
Today I’m totally going to use y’all for my own selfish purposes. I’m on the hunt for a rug for my master bedroom makeover. If you didn’t have a chance to read about my French Country wooden valances, let me fill you in. I went with the *bold* choice of plain white curtains. I’m going to be using this amazing coastal fabric as pops in the room, but for the most part, every rug is really a possibility.
Sounds easy right? No limits. Having so many choices can make it really difficult to narrow rugs down to “the one”. The shoe purge of 2014 is clear evidence that I will just keep purchasing until I find “the one”. Seriously, I donated more than 60 pairs of shoes (hanging my head in shame). I now own about 10 pairs of shoes…total.
Therefore, I’m enlisting your help. Here are the options. Chime in and tell me in the comments which one is your favorite. How to pick a rug? Get opinions.
I for sure have my eye on a few of these, but I’m not going to tell you which are my top contenders. Let’s see if you and I are on the same wavelength. What’s your favorite?
Have a fantastic day!

I like option #5. Don’t forget to tell us which rug you decide on. Love the fabric – pillows? Drapes? Upholstery?

Considering your fabric and your room so far, I would pick #1. I love #6 but I think it would add too much color for your light blue ceiling and valances. Your new fabric will pop with #1.

I love your bedroom! I, like you , have such a tough time picking out rugs. My favorite options for your room are option #1. I like option #5 also, but was wondering about the carpet in your bedroom. Are the undertones the beige tones or the gray tones. I guess that would determine what I think would coordinate, not that I am a decorator.

I would choose #1, considering your ceiling and valance colors. I love #6 but I think it would overbalance your room. Your new fabric should pop with this rug.

Sorry both my comments are printed. I thought the first one did not take.

I like #6 depending on the scale of the print. The blues seem right on.
