Kurze; kort; court; breve; krotki; byr; short. They all mean short.
How tall are you?
Me?
Not too tall.
In fact, on a good day I am barely 5’4″ if I’ve had a good night’s sleep and stand with good posture.
Most of the time I live my life and really don’t think about how tall or how short I am.
I have become comfortable being who I am and looking at the world from my own unique perspective.
When we vacation up North with my husband’s side of the family I have the delicious treat of being the tallest female. It’s fun to have my mother-in-law ask me to reach something down from the shelf…moi?
Reach something up high out of the kitchen cabinets?
Even small things can provide a little sense of accomplishment.
The rest of the year I am never asked to reach something down.
Really, height doesn’t matter…unless you are looking to buy pants right off the rack and have them hit that perfect spot just a half an inch from the floor.
I don’t feel short unless I’m standing next to someone tall and compare myself.
Let’s just stop comparing okay? Let’s inspire instead.
Being short…
doesn’t dictate how large your heart is.
doesn’t dictate the good you bring into the world.
doesn’t inhibit the brain from functioning.
Thank goodness.
Thankfully, this sweet coffee table doesn’t have another coffee table to compare himself too. You see, this coffee table used to be a dining room table until he lost his pineapple which made him quite a bit shorter.
He doesn’t have a complex about it though. He was 42″ wide and 31″ tall, standard dining room table height. Although he’s retained his width (he ages better than me) his height has shrunk considerably to just 19″.
He has a purpose and mission in life.
He knows his contribution to this family and is happy to oblige.
Tall or short…what more could I ask for?
I hope your day has been a fantastic one.
Nancy

Hi Nancy

Slightly Coastal, you couldn’t have described it more accurately.

She’s gorgeous!!! I have enjoyed seeing the transformation of this room! And I had a great time with you acquiring those sconces!
Nancy says
Can you believe Sheila I’m not actually “working” on this room? I think the room has a different agenda than me! LOL!

Wow!! This is such a cute coffee table and who would have guessed that it use to be a dining table. By the way I am only 5 feet four inches tall also.
Nancy says
Thanks Alicia. The funny thing is, this table has been a dining table twice and a coffee table twice in the 20 years I have owned it. I think this is its final place though. Thanks for reading fellow 64 incher!

Love it! I had considered doing this, but I couldn’t find one small enough for my space. Thanks for sharing it at Totally Terrific Tuesday this week. I’m pinning! 🙂

Thanks Cristie. It has really “made” the room come alive. If I didn’t have this one I would so be on the lookout for an old oak table to give that Restoration Hardware finish to.
