A few weeks ago I posted my blue and white plate wall and it really kicked me into high gear on working on my master bedroom. I have been contemplating the bay window in my master almost since we moved in.
Make a window seat?
Put up tall curtains?
Install plantation shutters?
The choices seemed endless. Finally, I decided I wanted to carry my love for moulding and trim onto my bay window and this is where I am on the project.
Normally I like to show y’all the finished project. But this week I thought I would pull back the veil and show a work in progress and ask your opinion. There is a lot left to do in this little space. I opted for simple (and inexpensive) white curtains from Wal-Mart. These curtains won’t ever be closed because hidden up underneath all that wood are Levalor black-out cordless shades.
When it is all finished I’ll post a tutorial. But, this whole thing was built from left over furring strips from my bathroom remodel, 1/4 inch plywood and some inexpensive moulding.
I’m super excited about this space because sometimes what I envision in my head just doesn’t come to fruition. Every time I embark on a new project the possibility of failure is always looming in the background.
Statistically I don’t know what my success rate is on projects, but this is the result of round 2. Round 1 is currently sitting in my garage as a pile of MDF valances I’m probably going to re-purpose into signs. You see…I built them without real thought about how I was actually going to install them.
This time I put my thinking cap on and it turned out much better. But there are projects left which could make this whole vision I have crash and burn.
I think I’m most nervous about “find an incredible table”. Again, I have a vision in my head and I’m just not sure I’m going to be able to find it. These are the main things I would like to do. I would also love to tear out this awful builder grade carpet and install wood floors. Alas, I have to wait for the results from the “tax man”. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
I have marked, “make these chairs ‘match'”. The problem is, I saw two chairs at my local consignment store the other day and am totally smitten with them. They are still a little more than I would like to spend even though they have been there since the end of November and have gone through a few markdowns. The sensible version of Nancy would make due with the two chairs I have and try to work my magic on them. The obsessive version of Nancy wants to steer her car on the way home from work every day to the consignment store and bring those chairs home. I’m not sure which version of myself will win yet.
Doesn’t it just look like me? Plus, there are two of them and they are in perfect condition! Look at the fabric…
What would you do? Would you splurge for the pair of new chairs or make the current ones work? Do you have a bay window? How did you dress it?
I hope you have a fantastic day!
Nancy

I think you’ve got a really great start on this! I don’t know which version of my self would win out with the chairs either. I love the idea of using what you already have, but I’m weak. Sometimes the splurge instinct conquers my practical side. ☺ Good luck with this and with the tax returns! I can’t wait to see the progress as you go along.

Is there anywhere else in your house to use the two chairs from the bedroom? I’m no help because I do the same thing all the time : )
Loving the vision.

Go back to the consignment store. If the chairs are still there, that means they are waiting for you to give them a good home. It’s a sign!
You may also want to update the wood on the arms and legs, with a gray blue paint to coordinate with the blue in the fabric.

LOL! Loved this post! I’m always on the hunt for “stunning trim” too!
Happy day friend!
