Five Tips For Creating A Pumpkin Tablescape
Pumpkins just make me happy. Even the bright orange ones that greet you when you enter the grocery store. In fact, I don’t think I’ve met a pumpkin anything I didn’t like.
Pumpkin Latte…yep. Pumpkin pie…yep. Pumpkin bread…yep. Pumpkin candles…double yep.
So a pumpkin tablescape sounds just perfect to me. This no fuss tablescape is so easy to accomplish. Let me share the five rules I used to create this tablescape.
One-Gather All The Pumpkins (Real and faux)
Okay let’s be real. A tablescape filled with real pumpkins can be pricey. For this tablescape I used three real pumpkins and my collection of faux pumpkins.
I just gathered them all in a pile and then started to group colors together. It turns out I had a lot of green, white, and a few in a pretty plum color. I pulled the orange ones out of the mix and held them for something later.
Once a color pallet is established, you can put together a center flower arrangement.
Two-Create a High/Low Flower Arrangement
Feel free to use real flowers in your arrangement. I used faux because I wanted to keep them on my table throughout the season and dead flowers just make me sad. I use a high/low method when putting together arrangements. I pick a some stems that a little on the pricey side but are oh so pretty to be the show stoppers in the arrangement.
The beautiful pink flowers are my pricey addition. Then I fill the vase with different “bushes” of flowers either on sale at the craft store or from Wal-Mart. I simply take the wire cutters and cut them into individual stems so I can put them in the arrangement where I want them to be.
Three-Make a Runner From Garlands
To make this tablescape look full and lush, I put two eucalyptus garlands on the table before I put the pumpkins down. I wanted to create a bed of leaves for the pumpkins to sit on. I think this gives it a more substantial look. I highly recommend investing in some good eucalyptus garland because it seems to be able to transcend seasons and always makes a great foundation.
I even let it trail off each end of the table to make it feel like it was just more natural and unruly.
Four-Mix Those Metals
I love the look of mixed metals on a tablescape. For this tablescape I mixed brass candlesticks (so easy to find at thrift stores) and silver pheasants I bought at Target last year.
Don’t be worried if your brass candlesticks don’t match each other. That makes it even more interesting.
Five-Keep the Setting Simple
Don’t underestimate the power of a simple place setting. Investing in a good set of neutral dishes is worth their weight in gold. White and cream dishes can be mixed in to any place setting and tablescape no matter what the season.
So are you ready to go tackle a pretty tablescape? Since you have been so patient and read all the way to the end of this post…let me give you the full view. Now, I’m off for my 327th Pumpkin Spice Latte.
One more for the road….
Love you guys!

Hope you enjoyed your Pumpkin Spice Latte, Nancy! I just love them, too.
Your tablescapes are so beautiful! Those silver pheasants and the bronze candlesticks are so pretty and just add so much to your tablescape. I am definitely going to look for these in our Thrift Stores. The trouble with our Thrift Stores is that the “antique pickers” seem to get there before you do.
I love how you use the pumpkins — real and faux. Lately, I have started to enjoy the velvet pumpkins and will add a few more to my collection each year.
Like you, Nancy, I still like the “real” fall colors and will always have a few orange ones in our décor. On our porch, I always use the real orange pumpkins with sunflowers and tall grasses and little straw bales. I have two cute little scarecrows that I put on our white “Cracker Barrel” rockers along with fall plaid throws. We just love the Fall time with the changing leaves, crisp fall breezes, etc.
We had our Thanksgiving dinner yesterday and had family and friends over. It’s always a nice time to gather around our table and be thankful for each and every one. Such a special time!
Nancy, every time I see your lovely antique chest in your pictures, I just love it and remember your story that goes with it. IF you ever need to part with it, would you please put my name on it?!! It is so beautiful. I love antique furniture and have never seen anything like your chest.
Hope you and your family are enjoying your Columbus Day holiday! Take care! Blessings! Thanks for your lovely informative posts! Always enjoy them!

MaryAnn,
You are so sweet! Thank you for all your thoughts on the table. It sounds like your porch with the scarecrows is so cute. I’m happy you had a great holiday with family and friends. I don’t think I will ever part with my antique chest. But I’ll keep you in mind for it. :). Be well my friend! I enjoy so much whenever you stop by my blog. I look forward to your comments.
